A LOOK AT HOW WORK IS PROGRESSING ON THE SCHREIBER FOOD FACTORY IN CLERY LE PETIT (MEUSE)

29 May 2018

THEBAULT INGENIERIE, leader in the design and construction of turnkey projects for the food sector, is currently working on the new production site for SCHREIBER in Cléry le Petit (Meuse). Seven months after work first began, we look at how work is progressing on this 9160 m² project, which will produce dairy products for the Système U brand from 2019.

First national base for SCHREIBER

SCHREIBER, a leading player in the food sector around the world and Europe, specialising in dairy products, will by the end of next year be taking advantage of their first base in France. This base in the East of the country will enable the firm to fulfil the requirements of its agreement with the supermarket chain, Système U supplying them with dairy products, including yoghurts, fresh soft cheeses and desserts.

A highly technical project

This new food processing factory designed in close collaboration with the THEBAULT INGENIERIE design team is particularly technical in order to satisfy all the requirements and production standards for dairy products. The factory is being built on a 9160 m² site organised around various areas to take care of the whole production chain – reception of raw materials, preparation of the ingredients, processing, liquid and dry packaging, sterilisers, cooling tunnel, storage and delivery.

How things are going after seven months of work

The THEBAULT INGENIERIE work teams in charge of building this project have been busy since the end of October. In spite of some harsh weather conditions in the winter, the building work is progressing smoothly. After diverting a 20,000 volt HV cable, the first major job involved bulldozing the plot, which was a complicated piece of work because of the characteristics of the ground, which meant it was necessary to set up around 1000 pillars and rigid supports, as the proximity of a stream and the water table meant they needed to build on a hollow construction 1.90 metres above the ground. Work is now focusing on erecting the buildings with the concrete or metal frames, before the roof goes on and the frontage and cladding are dealt with.

First part to made available ahead of schedule in July

In order to install the equipment as quickly as possible for the factory, the timetable is very detailed with parts to be made available gradually from July to November 2018 with the final completion and handover scheduled for early 2019. The first dairy products will leave this new factory from the first quarter of 2019.
